Comparative Analysis of Battery Thermal Management System Using Biodiesel Fuels

Liquid fuel has been the main source of energy in internal combustion engines (ICE) for decades. However, lithium-ion batteries (LIB) have replaced ICE environmentally friendly vehicles and reducing fossil dependence. This paper focuses on comparative analysis battery thermal management system (BTMS) to maintain a working temperature range 15–35 °C prevent runaway high gradient, consequently increasing LIB lifecycle performance. The proposed approach is use biodiesel as engine feed coolant. A 3S2P module simulated using Ansys-Fluent CFD software tool. Four selective dielectric biodiesels are used coolants, namely palm, karanja, jatropha, mahua oils. In comparison conventional coolants BTMS, mainly air 3M Novec, fuels proven within optimum range.
